While children are in this room, the relationships between child and caregivers sets the stage for secure attachments with teachers as they grow. Through their time together in this classroom, with a maximum of nine children, we see toddlers begin to form budding friendships. We understand that even before children are communicating verbally, they are sensing attitudes and feeling emotions they want to express and understand.  It is often soothing to a child to have his/her feelings acknowledged, named and respected. The teachers encourage communication development throughout the day as it is integrated into all daily activities, including clean up, diapering, and mealtime. The classroom environment offers plenty of space to explore and materials to foster each child’s curiosity. Two co-teachers and a part time assistant teacher all work together to create a fun age appropriate curriculum.
